A Timeless Shot of Joy: Capturing My Daughter Heena in 1993

The kind of shots you see on biscuit packs, milk powder tins, or baby product brochures often carry a universal charm—pure, unfiltered joy. In 1993, I had the chance to create one such image when I saw my daughter Heena in the perfect mood in my studio. Seizing the moment, I set up my faithful Nikon F2AS with a Nikkor 100-300mm f/5.6 zoom lens. I positioned a huge softbox on the right as the key light and a smaller softbox on the left as a fill light to soften shadows, creating a warm, even glow that highlighted her radiant smile.

What followed was a shooting spree filled with laughter and love. We captured some truly awesome shots, but this one stood out as a winner—and remains one of my all-time favorites. The image perfectly encapsulates the innocence and happiness that brands often seek for their packaging, but for me, it’s a cherished memory of Heena’s childhood.
